Wasted

Wrapped - 129 words
Mary Ann Loo

It’s funny how
one moment changes everything.
It’s funny how I
never thought of you this way
until you dragged me to the dance floor;
disregarding my very clumsy feet,
you held my hand and
held me close.
It’s funny how we had
365 chances to meet for coffee,
catch a movie,
build a friendship,
but were wasted on mere hi’s and bye’s.
Yet each one led to this night –
we talked
and laughed
and soon the sun rose
and then we had to say
goodbye.
It’s funny
how I never really saw you before,
now I
can’t get you out of my mind.
And I wish I had reveled in the way it felt
when you wrapped an arm around me
and I began to fall
for you.
